a Radiology Technologist to join our MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center team

We are looking for a licensed Radiology Technologist who exhibits professionalism, courtesy, and excellent customer service, while interacting with patients, guests and coworkers and the ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

As a Radiology Technologist, you will administer roentgen rays and radioactive substances to patients. Operate x-ray equipment, develop film, prepare patient's room, equipment, supplies and medications. Provide patient services using imaging modalities.

Primary Duties:

  • Prepare room, equipment, medicine, and materials as needed for patients. Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment. Prepare barium preparation and other chemical mixture for x-rays.
  • Prepare patient for x-rays, explains procedures, transfers patient to table, position patient, and assists patient at end of procedure. Follow prescribed techniques in administrating general and specific x-rays. Adjusts equipment, determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time. Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient and adjusts the lead shield and selects proper films.
  • Radiographs all incoming patients. Observes patient and machine during procedures and reports unusual occurrences and records patient's condition. Routinely maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties such as drafting reports.
  • Assists chief technologist in maintaining radiographic technique charts. Transport patients Follow infection control guidelines applicable to the section. Efficiently takes mobile x-ray unit to patient's room or emergency room.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiology.
  • Maryland State License.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) Registered.
