The Role

As a Scientist within the Scent Technology & Innovation team, you will work together with R&D, Perfumers, Operations and Commercial teams to create and delivery innovative technologies. You will be responsible for understanding how these technologies interact with fragrance ingredients and customer formulations in order to design and deliver fragrance solutions which will delight our consumers. You will be part of our Bell Works Home & Fabric Care Innovation team located in Holmdel NJ and will share our knowledge and learning with other teams globally. Key focus will be on Fabric Innovation projects leveraging and exploring new technologies into variety of formulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive, plan, conduct and report laboratory work for innovation and commercial projects
  • Develop and present technical information to support project decisions
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams (R&D, Perfumers, Evaluators, Commercial, Operations) to identify and understand the risks and challenges
  • Support project teams to create technical insights using appropriate design of experiments
  • Contribute positively to technical project teams, providing data & lab support to drive performance
  • Provide technical leaders and managers with timely and clear status updates on various initiatives and projects
  • Deliver improvements in processing techniques and innovation to deliver differentiating solutions for fabric and home care platforms
  • Schedule and participate in fragrance evaluation panels
  • Execute stability testing to assess and develop performance understanding
  • Develop a network of colleagues within IFF to expand application & business knowledge
  • Ensure work is managed in a timely, reliable manner and uphold the highest standards
  • Follow and maintain safe laboratory practices
  • Maintain excellent awareness of the Fabric Care market and market products
  • Proactively be involved in new initiatives
  • Support technology scouting IP/literature review

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree / Master's degree in Chemistry, Polymer, Formulation, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years working experience in the industry or in comparable (consumer products)
  • Strong understanding of consumer insights for fabric care applications is desired
  • Good understanding of chemical processing and formulations is desired
  • Technical experience in the labs designing and executing experiments involving chemical reactions, formulations, analytical instrumentations and process equipment
  • Knowledgeable in lab safety, relevant application, raw materials and chemical processes
  • Project management skills
  • IP contributions
