Aurora Health Care is seeking applicants for an audiology externship in the Greater Milwaukee area for the term. This is a 12-month, 4-5 day (40 hour) per week position beginning in June 2025. Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit health system. Our mission is to serve the health needs of individuals, families, and communities. Our purpose is to help people live well.

Externs will gain clinical experience in a variety of audiological services at multiple sites. This includes behavioral and electrophysiological diagnostic hearing evaluations of infants, children, and adults; pediatric and adult hearing aid services; pediatric and adult cochlear implant and osseointegrated implant evaluations with post-operative management; and comprehensive vestibular evaluations (VNG, Rotary Chair, vHIT, VEMP, CDP).

Externs will work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary partners including ENT and neurotology physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists, and speech therapists. Applicants will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, be friendly and engaging, and have a strong desire to learn and grow.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
•Basic evaluation for adults and adolescents

•Minimal experience in behavioral evaluations of infants and
young children

•Otoscopy, tympanometry, and acoustic reflex measurement

•Basic understanding of hearing aids Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
•Hearing aids (selection, fitting, and verification)

•Pediatric hearing evaluations

•Vestibular evaluations

•Cochlear implant evaluation, mapping, and post-activation
evaluations
