Job Description:

The Modern Languages and Cultures department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions in Arabic, French, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and Modern Cultures. Offerings in this area include FR 111- French I; CH 122- Chinese Conversation I; JA 113- Japanese Conversation in Japan; and SP 141- Spanish for Spanish Speakers I.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have at minimum a Master's Degree, as well as thirty (30) additional and appropriate graduate credits and/or evidence of scholarly achievement, professional activities, and experience teaching similar courses at the college level in appropriate fields (fields (Arabic, French, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Literature, Film Studies, Comparative Literature, Linguistics). The requirement for the Master's Degree may be waived if the candidate is in a doctoral program in which the Master's Degree is not required, or if the proposed instructor has certification in a specific discipline.

MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND WORKING REQUIREMENTS:

This position will be required to continuously read and comprehend, occasionally perform calculations, constantly verbally communicate, frequently analyze, and constantly write. The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Spring 2023. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will keep this posting open to create a pool of candidates for potential future adjunct assignments. The department will contact applicants who qualifications fit our programmatic needs.

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. The hourly rate and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience.
Starting Rate: $77.43 per hour with step increments per Salary Schedule 97, after one year of service and annually thereafter.
