Job Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Compton College District Police Department has an active police cadet program that is vital in providing quality, non* hazardous police services to our campus community.

The police cadets are Compton College District students who work part-time for the Police Department while attending Compton College. The program allows students to gain valuable experience working in a law enforcement setting while pursuing their educational goals. Police cadets can work up to 25 hours per week and perform a variety of assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS

Providing directional assistance to staff, students, our campus community, the public, and visitors to the college campus.

Providing escort services to staff, students, and visitors on campus. Parking enforcement

Making emergency notifications

Aiding and traffic control at special events Operating the campus courtesy shuttle Locking and unlocking campus buildings Non-hazardous patrol of campus grounds Special events (Football, Basketball, Track, etc.) Report writing/ Computer usage

Observe and report criminal activities Complete forms as needed

Operate District Vehicles

And other duties as required


Required Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

Currently enrolled as a student at Compton College With at least six units per semester GPA of 2.0 or higher

18 years of age

Possession of a valid California driver's license

No felony criminal or disqualifying misdemeanor criminal conviction

Able to pass a thorough background investigation, including a fingerprint check with D.O.J and the F.B.I

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Ability to work independently and accurately and solve technical and methodological issues during work.

Ability to learn new software and research techniques as needed.

The ability to communicate orally, write, and adequately document in a report. Ability to apply sound judgment.

Strong organization and interpersonal skills.

Self-starter

The ability to work with little to no supervision.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary Range:
$15.50 * $17.25 per hour

Dates of Employment:
Spring Semester, February 13, June 9, 2023 General, flexible hours not to exceed 25 hours per week
