Purpose:
Provide leadership, initiative and ownership of the calculation, controls, analysis and reporting of GAAP reserves for Athene's U.S. entities. Ensure accurate and timely reporting and analysis. Provide expert commentary and analysis to internal management, internal and external auditors and other relevant parties. Identify and implement process improvements. Manage a team of 2-3 people.

Accountabilities:
  • Timely preparation of complete and accurate annuity actuarial values required for GAAP financial reporting.
  • Effective control design and execution for quarterly and annual GAAP reporting.
  • Provide leadership for the development and maintenance of appropriate annuity valuation systems with a strong focus on efficiency, consistency and flexibility.
  • Work with both internal resources and external vendors to ensure proper input data along with accurate actuarial results in compliance with applicable accounting and actuarial standards.
  • Actively monitor regulatory and legislative environment related to annuity valuation and financial reporting issues. Contemplate potential impacts and develop recommendations on required actions. Effectively implement changes.
  • Provide support to internal and external auditors, insurance departments and Finance on all reserve related requests.
  • Provide effective leadership, management, development, coaching and training to Valuation team members.
  • Lead a functional area (F133/MRB, Payout/Funding Agreements, AVRF/ DAC/ Disclosures) for valuation.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related field
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in an actuarial GAAP reporting role
  • Strong organizational, communication and critical thinking skills
  • Strong knowledge of individual annuity products, GAAP valuation processes and actuarial techniques, and balance sheet/income statement concepts
  • Experience with actuarial modeling and valuation software
  • Experience with Indexed Annuities with Guaranteed Living Income/Withdrawal Benefits preferred.
  • Will consider a candidate with an accounting background with similar experience.
