Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Histologist Technician Non-Registered at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:
· You will file, locate, log, retrieve, and deliver pathology specimens/reports.
· You will perform standard histology procedures for embedding, cutting, mounting, and staining tissue for analysis.
· You will provide the pathologist with well stained microscopic slides of surgical sections and perform any necessary procedures for microscopic diagnosis
· You will perform specialized testing as assigned.
· You will assist in instructing other personnel as assigned.
· You will assure that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times.
Qualifications:
· Certification not required.
· College level course work in anatomy and chemistry strongly preferred.
· Some histology experience preferred; experience may be obtained through completion of 1 year of an accredited training program in histology techniques and procedures.
· Knowledge of medical terminology, histochemistry, histology, and basic mathematics and skill at microtomy and embedding tissue preferred.
· Must have good verbal and written skills and good computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
