Plant Engineering in Indianapolis Device Assembly and Manufacturing is responsible for maintaining the site's facility infrastructure including buildings, HVAC, GMP utilities, steam, water, sewer and other utility systems to a state of compliance. It must assure that facilities and related infrastructure are fit for use when needed, maintenance and reliability techniques are efficient and effective, and appropriate corrective and improvement actions are taken when necessary. Plant Engineering is also responsible for the efficient and effective management of local capital for their assets and oversight of engineering/maintenance contract resources.

Responsible for delivering facilities expansions, retrofits, developing the scope of the project, gaining management buy in, providing clear concise communication, working with outside construction firms.

The Plant Engineer is responsible for establishing and maintaining the reliable operation and qualified state of the equipment and business processes in the areas they support. This includes HVAC, Utilities, and ancillary systems (i.e.- pest control) associated within their facilities. The Plant Engineer ensures that equipment is in-control, compliant, and capable of meeting customer needs, while also driving associated continuous improvement initiatives.

The Plant Engineer receives direction from the senior engineer. The Plant Engineer is responsible for prioritizing and coordinating the work of the Engineering Tech. The Plant Engineer ensures that FRAP guidance is followed.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

Safety First:Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and helping improve the safety cultureTake overall responsibility for the safe design of the equipmentAbility to work in a safe manner to ensure the safety of self and othersReliable supply:Understand HVAC, Utilities and Facility applications in manufacturing operationsAn understanding of mechanical equipment used in a manufacturing environment (Pumps, motors, etc.)Perform structured problem solving independently or through facilitation with other engineers, technicians, skilled trades, and operatorsMonitors/trends control systemsResponsible for ensuring correct application of predictive maintenance technologies across siteSeek and implement new technologies to enhance equipment performance and availabilitySME on flow charts, process parameters, and Engineering Function StandardsPerform process monitoringResponsible for troubleshootingEngaged on communication to customers for system issuesResponsible for the evaluation of all activities that have the potential to impact the qualified state for their system(s)Identify and drive improvement opportunities (procedural changes, upgrades, projects, etc.) associated with equipment and processes within the areaResponsible for equipment reliability issues and maintenance strategy with the objective of improvementParticipate/Provide oversight in ensuring scheduled shutdowns are planned and executed effectivelyGMARS/CMMS:Data accuracy and structureSpare parts identification and stocking strategyProject / Facility Upgrade Delivery:Develop scope for capital projects targeted at both short-term and longer-term needsAct as user representative for capital projects or delivery agent for local projectsLead or participate in IQ/OQ/PQ activities (including commissioning activities)Lead or participate in capital projects for applicable HVAC and utility systems in area(s) of responsibilityDeveloping successful project teamsManaging the team to achieve to business goals of the projectDeveloping the implementation plan (schedule) of the projectCommunicating the status of projects to area managementManaging the entire project to completion (scope development, budget, construction, commissioning, qualification, and validation)People Development:Technical leader and mentor for Engineering TechsQuality Management System:Responsible for all CAPA and deviation investigations / originations (e.g. root cause analysis)Change Control owner and executer for applicable systemsAdditional:Ensure facility and utility drawings are accurateHVAC, Utility, and Facility SME for auditsResponsible for periodic reviews of systems and proceduresMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in engineering ​or related science (or equivalent work experience)Minimum 2 years of facilities engineering-related experience
