GeneralPurpose: The Sr. Staff Accountant assists in the daily operations of the finances of the company. Assist in analyzing financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other activities within an organization.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports organization's finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Analyze financial statements Month-end close Reconciliations Internal customer support other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other than the general responsibilities, this level includes the following and other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Compile, enter, and post monthly adjusting journal entries.
  • Assist with closing the books and in producing monthly financial statements.
  • Review monthly balance sheet, profit and loss statements.
  • Assist in the preparation audit schedules and work closely with the auditors to ensure the completion of timely audit.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
  • Assist in allocating, reporting, and analysis of purchasing volume allowances.
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Code Accounts Payable invoices. Provide back up in AP processing and in coding of Account Receivables.
  • Assist with tax computations and returns
  • Assist with budgets and forecasts
  • Assist with account/bank reconciliations and account analysis
  • Maintain correct general ledger balances for assigned accounts
  • Prepare related account reconciliations

Knowledge: Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Must have experience with cost accounting.

Knowledgeable in fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization accountant.

Education/Training/Experience:

4+ years of experience in a Staff Accountant role. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance 1-2 years general ledger experience to include month-end close Strong Reconciliation experience Variance analysis excellent communications skills.
