Job Description:

The role of the Fault Monitoring Engineer is to provide engineering services to support the evolution of the Fault Monitoring toolset. The work is always in alignment to the current and approved architectural, roadmaps, technology standards and templates, governance and change management policies set forth by the firm.

Following established written procedures, guidelines and techniques, develops, enhances, tests, supports, maintains, and debugs software applications that support business units or support functions. Individual contributor role; fully competent to work under general direction on the most complex projects, often on multiple phases, and seeks guidance and direction from more senior associates or manager, as needed. Working knowledge of business or function for which application is designed. Often responsible for the completion of a phase of a project.

Responsibilities:

Provides subject matter expertise and consulting services on a range of technologies and assists Technical Analysts and Infrastructure Engineers to ensure that technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standardsAssists with translating business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for deployment in compliance with architecture standards and policiesAssists in the evaluation of reference models, blueprints and playbooks to ensure they are fit for purposeDevelops software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processesConducts on-site evaluations of third-party products being considered for firm adoptionPromotes an inclusive and healthy working environment and helps to resolve organizational impediments/blockersContributes to the creation/selection of functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements within and across domainsRequired Qualifications:Minimum 5+ years of experience in IBM Netcool Operations Insight & AIOPS platformStrong knowledge of system and networking conceptsExperience in deploying Netcool Omnibus, Netcool Impact, Network Manager, Probes, Gateways, and Cognos Analytics in high-availability environmentsExperience in deploying Topology Manager, Runbook Automation, and CNEA components in the RedHat OpenShift container platformExperience deploying various probes and gateways in a high-availability environmentExperience in developing custom probe rulesConfiguration of network discovery across multi-region environmentsConfiguration of custom AOC files and custom network viewsExperience in designing and developing Cognos custom reportsExperience in developing Netcool Impact custom policies and object server triggers to integrate with third-party systemsStrong hands-on experience with Syslog, MTtrapd, MessageBus probes, IDBC, and XML gatewayConfiguration of SevOne network discoveryConfiguration of SevOne poll policiesExperience with SevOne object grouping conceptsExperience in building Runbook AutomationsDesired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, related field and or technical trainingPrior Experience with SevOne Network Performance Management building maps/linksFunctional knowledge of Network components such as switches, routers, firewalls, proxies, load balancers etc. Understanding of inter-dependencies of various network componentsSelf-starter, self-directed and shows initiativeFocused on execution, delivery, and commitment to datesSkills in Scripting desired; Python, Ansible, Shell, JavaScriptFamiliarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process and Agile Project deliverySound engineering foundation with network and systems troubleshooting skillsLinux/Unix/Windows server administrationWorking knowledge of Active DirectoryCan tie strategy and actions to business impact and resultsDemonstrates ownership: Is accountable and can hold others accountable (professionally)Strong written and verbal communications skills.
