Job Summary and Qualifications

The incumbent shall be responsible for providing a full range of occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the positions qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards. The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribute to program development, quality improvement, problem solving and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion.

  • Participate in continuing education / professional development activities and maintains professional growth and development.
  • Communicate and demonstrate a professional image / attitude for patients, families, clients, co-workers and others.
  • Conduct initial assessments, provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions and evaluate patient response to treatment.
  • Document the course of patient care including progress made and continuing need for treatment. Documentation complies with policy and procedures and with all regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrates age specific competency for geriatric population.
  • Coordinates treatment activity with other disciplines and team members.
  • Participates in unit quality management, performance improvement and survey preparation activities as requested.
  • Contributes to the delivery of cost effective care.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an AOTA approved program
  • OT Texas licensure
  • AHA and BLS
  • 1 year OT experience in a hospital setting preferred
  • Effective work with adult and geriatric population is necessary; experience serving people with physical disabilities.
