The incumbent will serve as the Supervisory Mineral Resource Specialist and Assistant Field Manager (AFM) for the Division of Minerals in the North Dakota Field Office (NDFO).Supervises the Division of Mineral Resources staff , which consists of support specialists and technical professional specialists in such disciplines as petroleum engineering, physical and environmental sciences, and oil and gas compliance programs.The incumbent may be involved with collecting samples, studying production operations, and/or carrying equipment weighing less than 50 pounds Work Environment: Work is in three principal settings: a) office, b) travel to isolated locations, and c) inspection sites where protective clothing and safety precautions are required, subject to work around heavy construction equipment, drilling rigs, and dust.BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Natural Resources Specialist Series: A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.Petroleum Engineer Series A. Degree: Engineering.Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)1, or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration.Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.Geologist Series A. Degree: geology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography.
