Job Description

The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients through teaching, research, and patient care. The activities of the Facilities Operations and Development Wexner Medical Center District support a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation. The director is responsible for directing maintenance operations shops to achieve positive operational and financial outcomes across the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The director develops and manages annual operating budgets and identifies capital needs. The director utilizes metrics and data analytics to develop cost of service and areas of focus to reduce costs and improve services. The director implements operational improvements across the department. The director evaluates new technologies and training needs within FOD Operations to meet both short and long-term needs. The director collaborates regularly with medical center department leaders to convey goals, identify concerns, proactively problem solve, and meet their needs. The director ensures medical center facilities are compliant with applicable codes and standards and interfaces with authorities having jurisdiction on behalf of the medical center. The director manages assistant directors, managers, and supervisors and oversees a team of employees who create a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

This position primarily works on first shift, but is subject to changes in shift, hours, days, and/or location as operations dictate. This position must be available 24/7 for emergencies or as operations dictate. In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17, this position has been designated as essential.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business administration, health care administration, or relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in facilities operations management or related field: seven years progressive facilities operations management (health care environment preferred); considerable knowledge of customer service and team building; knowledge of building regulatory codes and standards; excellent communication skills (i.e., verbal and written), presentation, and interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; and experience operating facilities computerize maintenance management systems.
