The position plans, develops, coordinates, evaluates a comprehensive eye care program, works with a patient's medical provider and care team to optimize overall healthcare outcomes and supervises. Reports to the Clinical Director.



Duties

  • Independently diagnoses all optometric and ocular problems through external and internal physical evaluation of the eye and surrounding tissue.
  • Refers patients requiring complex medical surgery or services to appropriate medical specialty.
  • Provides vision and eye care education and counseling to patients.
  • Takes complete history from the patient and/or family member to determine risk of eye disease. Records all patient care examinations, assessments, procedures and care plans.
  • Supervises subordinates, develops and monitors the eye care budget, devises and implements projects.
