Description

SAIC is currently seeking a Mechanical Systems Technician in Middletown, RI. The candidate will work to support the maintenance and operation of an advanced Naval Test Facility and torpedo hardware. The Propulsion Test Facility (PTF) specializes in the test and characterization of torpedo and mechanical systems, including propulsion, combustion, and fluid pump and control systems.

The primary work focus will involve the maintenance, setup, breakdown and repair of mechanical test equipment and facility
infrastructure including fluid and gas handling, industrial equipment, and complex test and automation systems.
The candidate must be self-motivated, accountable, and present themselves professionally in front of customers and peers. The deal candidate will bring creativity, strong work ethic, and the propensity to become a subject matter expert and leader within the team.

Job Duties:

Responsible for the checkout and inspection of systems and associative hardware such as pumps, valves, eyewash stations and lockout / tagoutUse of facility cranesFabrication of test fixtures through the use of light metal and electrical workPerforming maintenance tasks and helping develop maintenance proceduresAssembling and installing equipmentCreating, building, modifying and repairing prototype test systems and fixturesFacility and system upkeep and organization

Qualifications

Qualifications:

High School Diploma.Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET level clearance.Proficiency with computers and basic use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.Experience with one or more of the following:
Familiarity with fluids, pneumatics, pumps, valves and electrical wiringComfortable working with basic electrical and mechanical toolsPrior training with OSHA, HAZMAT, PPE, and other industrial mattersMust be able to work in a team environment while completing tasks unsupervised and in a self-directed fashionExperience working in an indoor and outdoor industrial environmentAbility to foster and organized work environment with positive peer-to peer relationshipsAbility to manage a group and / or conflicting tasking SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
