Position Information

Description & Details:

The Department of Animal Sciences seeks a postdoctoral fellow for a 12 to 24-month term under the supervision of Dr. Carl Dahlen. This position is part of projects focused on multigenerational impacts of providing protein/energy and vitamin/mineral supplements to beef heifers during gestation. Our lab is also working on impacts of paternal nutrition and management on sperm and offspring outcomes. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): sample collection, sequencing library preparation (e.g. RNA-seq, miRNA-seq), bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data, and manuscript preparation. Previous experience with bioinformatic analysis is a strong asset, but not a requirement.

Work Schedule:

12-month term (1.0 FTE)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in animal science, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience with molecular genetic and/or epigenetic analyses
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively work both independently and in teams
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Demonstrated experience with bioinformatic analyses
    • Previous experience working with livestock handling and sample collection
    • Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals
