Physical Demands: The work is sedentary. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and to attend meetings and conferences away from work.

Supervisory Probationary Statement: Applicants selected for this position may be required to serve a one-year supervisory probationary period. Failure to successfully complete the supervisory probationary period will result in the employee being reassigned to a position in the agency of no lower grade and pay than the one the employee left to accept the supervisory or managerial position.

Major Duties:
  • Directs DLC, Subject Matter experts, supporting VHA national programs. Provides high level support and direction to DLC, Program Coordinators, Contract Officer Representative and Quality Assurance staff with healthcare products and services.
  • Serves as a first-line supervisor to Program Subject Matter experts. Plans and assigns work duties; sets production standards and adjusts short-term priorities; prepares guidance, counseling, or instruction to employees on both work and administration matters; resolves complex problems; establishes workflow and ensures timeliness; improves work methods and procedures. Adjusts staffing levels to accommodate resources allocated to operate within their prospective division.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of complex management and program operations VA-wide. Reviews, analyzes, develops, and recommends new or revised policies, procedures programs, and studies in order to resolve complex issues and to improve operations and efficiencies in major core processes. Conducts studies to improve program administration. Oversees the development of technical data, estimates, statistics, suggestions, and other information useful to higher-level managers in determining which goals and objectives to emphasize.
  • Directs customer service program management activities, and production oriented work as it relates to the products and services supported by DLC.
  • Responsible for customer service related issues that pertain to hearing aids and devices, telehealth, orthotic soft-goods, CPAP/Bi-PAP, wheelchairs, and aids for the visually impaired to include ROES problem resolution for all devices and components on contract.
