Shady Hill Auxiliary Programs is seeking dedicated and engaging music teachers to offer individual lessons during after school hours for students from Kindergarten to Grade VIII. For 100 years, Shady Hill has been a leader in progressive elementary education and our Afterschool program offerings are an essential part of that mission.

Teachers earn $45/30 minute lesson. Families sign up their students for 9-session lesson blocks. Potential lesson times are 3:15 pm - 5:45 pm Monday through Friday (2:30 pm - 5:45 Wednesday).

Initial scheduling can be flexible (for example, teaching just Monday-Wednesday), but then needs to remain consistent over the course of the school year. We are particularly looking for piano and voice teachers, although teachers of other instruments are welcome to apply. Music Lesson Teachers are responsible for developing lesson plans and tracking student progress over time. They are also responsible for supporting interested students in an end-of-year recital. Shady Hill expects all staff to use warm, non-punitive approaches to student behavior management and encourage intrinsic motivation by being responsive to students' needs and interests.

Qualifications:

Previous experience teaching music lessons required Degree in music education preferred Strong communication and organizational skills Interest in child development and educational best-practices in teaching music skills.
