Duties

Serves as advisor to Installation Commander, Garrison Commander and tenant unit commanders on emergency response, Chemical/Biological/Radiological and Nuclear operations and emergency management. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating emergency response and programs on the installation. Establishes and maintains contacts with Federal, state, and local officials involved with various emergency action plans throughout the Garrison Area of Responsibility. Develops program for providing necessary emergency guidance as well as required training to installation personnel. Develops and posts current information concerning actual or hypothetical (for exercises) floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, storms, and manmade disasters on appropriate maps and charts in the EOC. Supports the installation operational security program.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is a Key-Essential - The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the Federal agency or office to function effectively. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes involvement in the agency's emergency response or recovery efforts; contributing to an Emergency Services Program; and integrating operational planning and coordination with emergency responders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
