The MiraCosta College Career Studies Department seeks an experienced associate career counselor to provide career counseling to students participating in the District's
Academic and Career Pathways (ACP) Success Teams and to provide resources, guidance, and support to the members of ACP Success Teams.

The ACP Success Teams are the primary mechanism through which the District's Redesigning the Student Experience work is being achieved as it seeks to institutionalize the researched best practices of
CCCCO's Guided Pathways (CCCCO is the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office).

This posting is being left open to build a pool of qualified career development instructors and career counselors.

MiraCosta's ACP Success Teams were developed to provide support to the college's disproportionately impacted students.

Data from the college's Office of Research, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness demonstrate that first-time to college students who are Latinx, African-American/Black, and over 25 years of age can benefit from outreach, interventions, and a holistic team approach.

The associate career counselor will work closely with the members of six cross-divisional Academic and Career Pathways (ACP) Success Teams.

The associate career counselor will plan and coordinate support services, events, speakers, etc., that promote student career exploration, in alignment with the San Diego and Imperial Valley Region's
Integrated Career Planning and Education Planning brief.

The associate career counselor will also provide career counseling to ACP students, including assessment, major exploration, occupational exploration, and career clarity, and may be assigned to teach career and life planning (CRLP) classes.

The associate career counselor will be housed in the Career Center, located within the Instructional Services Division under the Associate Career Education Dean, and will receive guidance and support from the career and life planning discipline specialist and chair of the career studies department.
