Rotating - 08 Hour (United States of America)Stanford Radiology delivers outstanding patient care using technology, innovation, and humanity. We educate the next generation of leaders in patient care and research. We develop the next generation of imaging technology, molecular imaging, in-vitro diagnostics, image-guided therapeutics, and informatics for precision health. Under general supervision, performs various simple to complex radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating radiographic equipment and making radiographs of designated portions of the body. Duties include transferal of images, archiving and performing of appropriate imaging protocols which meet the department's standards of quality. Works as an independent technologist and in a variety of diagnostic areas with knowledge of emergency and after hours procedures. May supervise technical and ancillary personnel in assigned work areas/shift in the absence of Lead Technologist and/or supervisor.

Job Duties

Acts as Lead or Supervisor in their absence by directing patient flow, assuring that resources are matched to the appropriate tasks, trouble shoot equipment difficulties and place service calls for repairs. Assists the radiologist during procedures when needed Ensures proper darkroom techniques to include ability to ascertain sub-optimal film processing, and equipment malfunction. Follows established radiation safety guidelines 'ALARA' (as low as reasonably acceptable) in reference to time, distance and shielding Operates a variety of imaging and fluoroscopic equipment in performing a variety of imaging examinations. Utilizes proper body mechanics to ensure patient safety upon moving and/or transferring patients Participates in orientation and training of assigned staff, students and residents. Prepares patient for exam, i.e. identifying oneself, explaining procedures, confirming patient ID and checking correctness of the order Prepares room and equipment. Troubleshoots equipment failures and reports problems to the appropriate individual Processes identification data onto the exposed imaging plate and prepares the image for reading by the radiologist using image processing film or Picture Archive Communication System (PACS) Produces quality images following established departmental and QA (Quality Assurance) protocols to include technique, views, position, proper labeling and patient ID (Identification) Properly prepares contrast media under direction of a radiologist. Recognizes and responds to allergic reactions to contrast media. Works in a variety of diagnostic areas with knowledge of emergency and after hours procedures

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Requirement met by License/Certification Requirement

Experience

  • One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

License/Certifications

  • California State Fluoroscopic Permit (RTF)
  • Certified by the State of California Department of Health Services in Diagnostic Radiology (CRT)
  • BLS – Basic Life Support
  • ARRT-RTR - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Diagnostic Radiology certification

  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and congenital/acquired pathology
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
  • Knowledge of Imaging processes and fluoroscopic techniques, methods and equipment
  • Knowledge of methods of positioning patients
  • Knowledge of principles of image processing and development applicable to diagnostic imaging
  • Knowledge of radiation production, positioning and radiation safety

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $ $75.35 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
