This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Persons of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: PERMANENT position as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic with the Directorate of Public Works, Fort Jackson, SC.



Duties
  • Remove, replace and repair HVAC compressors and related components; recharges systems with refrigerant, balances systems for efficient operation, reconditions, modifies, replace and fabricates parts.
  • Removes, replaces and repairs electric components, i.e. connectors, magnetic starters, overloads timers, motors, transformers, contractors etc.
  • Removes, repairs, cleans, replaces and installs steam and hot water heating coils, controls, and other components in an air conditioning and heating unit.
  • Performs the entire scope of work involved in the troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and replacement of residential and commercial HVAC system equipment; This includes gas water heaters, air compressors and water circulating pumps.
