Position Summary

The Estimator / Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the estimating process, from bid preparation to project management. This role involves communication with customers and vendors, compliance with federal and state regulations, and efficient coordination of project start-up. This individual must ensure the profitable completion of projects within estimated costs, meeting or improving on scheduled completion dates while maintaining costs at or below budget.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Estimating Process

  • Prepare bid documents, interpret plans and specifications, conduct take-offs, develop estimates, and refine pricing strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with customers and vendors to complete estimates accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Have a firm understanding of scope of work and budget.

Project Start-up

  • Facilitate the transition from estimating to the project team.

Ensure team understands scope of work and has the necessary plans, specs, approved

submittals in hand.

Prepare/review job start up sheets (Material & Equipment).

  • Submit required notifications.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings.
  • Coordinate access, keys, parking, etc.
  • Coordinate any special requirements such as passes, travel, waste disposal, testing, subcontractors and air monitoring.

Field Operations

  • Personally inspect every assigned project at a minimum of two days a week.
  • Review Daily Reports/Timesheets and turn in to Payroll the day after work date.
  • Analyze resource usage (crew size, means & methods, equipment, etc.).
  • Resolve jobsite problems.
  • Readily recognize and price change order opportunities.
  • Ensure profitable completion of all projects within the estimated costs.
  • Communicate job progress at the weekly Production Meetings.
  • Work with Field Superintendent to manage quality control, safety, productivity & other operational issues.

Administrative

  • Works with Management Team to project percentage to bill on a timely basis.
  • Reviews and ensures all project closeout documents are correct and complete.
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Maintain a good attitude; be a team player and leader.

Present a professional appearance.

Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, OR 5 years' experience in General Construction Estimating / Project Management
  • Valid driver's license

  • Exhibits a high level of knowledge and concern for assisting the Owner/General Contractor in developing workable solutions.
  • Explore leads in a manner that produces successful, new, negotiated work.
