About the Position: This position is located at the US Army Installation Management Command, USAG Fort Cavazos, Directorate of Emergency Services, Fire Protection and Prevention Division, Fire Protection Branch, Fort Cavazos, Texas.
Duties
- Serve as Station Chief/Captain with responsibility for directing multiple firefighting crews.
- Respond to emergencies working from specific or general orders from higher level supervisors directing assigned personnel in firefighting activities, search and rescue, HAZMAT incidents, crash/rescue operations and medical emergencies.
- Perform and supervise crash/rescue duties at airfield, helipads, airstrips, in rough terrain areas and in the outlying civilian areas when requested through mutual aid.
- Perform and supervise operation of special tools on aircraft, special mechanisms and systems, engine shutdown and fuel/electrical systems shut offs.
- Engage in specialized fire program missions such as hazardous materials (HAZMAT) containment and control.
- Proficient in the use of specialized HAZMAT equipment and materials for proper implementation in negating incidents and subsequent decontamination procedures.
- Assist the injured by applying knowledge and training for such purposes as immobilizing for safe transport providing all required lifesaving procedures within the scope of his/her training.
- Perform and supervise fire safety inspections of low hazard structures and prepares all necessary inspections of low hazard structures.
