Position Summary

Manage a team of fleet maintenance staff and operations across multiple garages to safely inspect, maintain, operate, and provide emergency repairs for a fleet of units while meeting requirements for reliability, schedule, and cost. Attract, recruit, hire, develop, and retain qualified staff. Communicate clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and effectively manage performance. Participate in bargaining unit contract negotiations within area of responsibility and represent fleet group interests. Partner with operations business unit managers to collaborate on how fleet can best meet their needs and expectations as well as ensure a customer service-oriented approach is adopted by all garages.

Essential Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of assigned garage operations, including but not limited to vehicle maintenance and repair, parts supply, diagnostics, and quality assurance. Establish production goals, quality controls, operating procedures, and annual clearing budgets.Ensure a safe work environment by conducting high quality safety meetings, site audits, and accident investigations as well as ensuring adequate staffing, tools and equipment in good working condition, spare parts and workspaces are available.Responsible for customer satisfaction at assigned garages by prioritizing assignments and overall workflow of maintenance and repair activity within area of responsibility to ensure operational fleet needs and service requirements are met.Lead bi-weekly meetings with operations business unit managers within area of responsibility to improve efficiency, address issues and concerns, and enhance overall operations to improve customer service and minimize disruptions for business units.Develop strategic insights and opportunities for continuous improvement by analyzing maintenance reports, past and current performance, and inspection data to contribute to Fleet's operational excellence commitments. Identify unfavorable trends and initiate corrective actions to improve effectiveness and eliminate deficiencies. Meet established targets for vehicle availability, customer satisfaction, employee engagement scores, and percent of maintenance/repairs completed on time.Operate in compliance with bargaining unit agreements and vendor contracts within area of responsibility.Oversee hazardous waste disposal and tank inventory management in garages. Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.Seven years' experience related to fleet/garage management, truck/equipment repair, transportation, logistics, operations management, or related field required.Strong project management skills required.Attend meetings in various locations, up to 50% travel; valid driver's license required.Occasional on call duties to respond to emergency situations.Demonstrated ability to schedule and manage work activities to meet customer requirements.Knowledge of and ability to use a wide range of computer software applications, including Microsoft products, Fleet Management Information Systems, work management, and scheduling tools.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.Preferred RequirementsPrevious leadership experience preferred. Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $92,300.00 to $130,567.00 per year
