Job Title: FinOps Engineer

Location: Columbus, OH

What's the Job?

  • CFM Strategy & Architecture: Evaluate and analyze cloud hosting cost proposals, ensure compliance with cost accounting standards, coordinate with stakeholders throughout the SDLC cycle, support cloud transition schedules, and facilitate change management activities.
  • Budgeting & Cost Allocation: Create and manage cloud spending budgets, develop cost allocation methods for business units, and contribute to the yearly financial budget process for cloud hosting and third-party software.
  • Cost Optimization and Forecasting: Lead financial impact discussions on R&D initiatives, collaborate on cost optimization with FinOps and Engineering, conduct in-depth cost analysis, and monitor cloud expenses for cost-saving opportunities.
  • Commercial Software Agreements: Analyze AWS asset consumption, collaborate to establish migration patterns and purchase Reserved Instances, refine EDP discounts, and engage in private rate discounts for volume licensing.
  • Reporting & Insights: Conduct analytical reviews of cloud cost elements, prepare cost/price analysis reports, develop key briefings and presentations for senior leaders, and generate reports and dashboards to track cloud spending trends.

What's Needed?

  • Associate's degree (preferably in business administration, economics, engineering, or management information systems) or higher
  • 2+ years in IT financial management or FinOps Minimum of two years cloud engineering or systems administration of cloud assets (Either AWS or Azure)
  • 3+ years of analytical experience, preferably in the field of cost analysis, data visualization, data creation, or computer science. '
  • 5 years of cost/ acquisition experience is required.
  • CloudHealth, Apptio, Cost Explorer and other financial management tools
  • Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on Excel (particularly the use of PivotTables).
  • Strong Communication skills with an emphasis on technical writing and writing cost reports
