We expect to fill 1 vacancy at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.

• Parachutes into mountainous, remote, and/or rugged terrain and performs as a wildland firefighter, primarily as an Incident Commander or other leadership role.
• Directs fireline activities and tactics of firefighters, resources, equipment, and aircraft.
• Serves as a parachute rigger to pack, repair, and maintain parachutes and related smokejumper parachute equipment adhering to BLM Smokejumper Rigger policies and guidelines.
• Oversees smokejumper parachute inspection, packing, and maintenance ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and methods.
• Constructs and maintains smokejumper parachute equipment to include harnesses, parachute containers and deployment bags, smokejumper suits, and various packs.
• Trains new and existing employees on the use of loft equipment, sewing, materials, and required documentation according to BLM guidelines and FAA regulations.
• Contributes to the development of loft training guidelines.
• Assists with work planning, prioritization, and scheduling of smokejumpers performing loft projects.
• Assists with loft equipment inventory.
