Glen Oaks, New York

Northwell Health's Department of Behavioral Health is seeking a Medical Director of Behavioral Health Integration, Population Health Programs. This unique and exciting role would provide the opportunity to develop and execute behavioral population health programming at a system level, partnering with leaders across the spectrum of the health system including Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN and Community Health. The role would span two divisions with dual appointments in both the Behavioral Health Service Line and Northwell Health Solutions, the Population Health Care Management arm of Northwell Health. Primary responsibilities within the service line would include leading the behavioral health integration programs in medical settings. Key tasks would include oversight of clinical quality, clinical operations, supervision, and education for a large multidisciplinary team that includes social workers, licensed mental health counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists.

Primary responsibilities within Health Solutions would include oversight of behavioral health programming across the care management continuum. Working closely with program leadership to drive quality and deliver clinical outcomes, key tasks would include program development and deployment in value-based care, population health thought leadership, case conferencing, education, clinical escalation, quality oversight, as well as clinical model innovation in close collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Behavioral Health Service Line. The individual would serve as the behavioral health lead and subject matter expert for all of Health Solutions, assisting care management programs with behavioral health related needs and working closely with senior leadership in the creation and execution of fully integrated value-based models.

A portion of professional time would also be dedicated to the delivery of direct services through telepsychiatry consultation of primary care and value-based patient populations.

Qualified candidates should have at least 3 years of post-residency experience with demonstrated leadership in areas such as new program development, quality and QI initiatives, behavioral health integration or task shifting models. Experience or background in population health, public health, healthcare economics, or value-based care preferred. Key attributes for the successful candidate would include a highly collaborative style of leadership, being able to engage with various stakeholders in a large, highly matrixed environment. The individual would be comfortable working in a fast paced, "startup" like culture, providing maximal opportunities for creativity in delivering behavioral health services outside of traditional models and settings. They would also excel at teaching and supervising across a variety of disciplines and experience levels, including residents and fellows.

This position will report directly to the Executive Director of the Behavioral Health Service line with matrixed reporting to medical leadership of Health Solutions.
