Summary

You will serve as a HEALTH PHYSICIST (TRAINING) in the Radiological Control Technician Training Branch (Code , Radiation Worker Training Branch (Code , Special Projects Training Branch (Code , or Special Emphaisis Training Branch (Code , Radiological Support Division (Code 105.4), Manager Radiological Controls Support (Code 105.1S), Radiological Control Office (Code 105), Radiological Support Division (Code of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.



Duties
  • You will review changes to Health Physics, Naval and local radiological control requirements and ensures changes are included in affected courses.
  • You will conduct work site surveillances to ensure work is performed to federal and local requirements as well as to monitor effectiveness of training.
  • You will evaluate shop/code classroom and practical ability training to review adequacy, accuracy, effectiveness, and adherence to standards.
  • You will plan, develop, coordinate, facilitate, progress, and evaluate all radiological training courses.
  • You will reviews changes to health physics, naval radiological control requirements and local requirements and ensures changes are included in affected training and development.
  • You will conduct and evaluate radiation awareness training for non-radiation workers in the shipyard, including visitors.
  • You will evaluate, modify, and advise on the health physics aspects of equipment or procedures that involve exposure to ionizing radiation, and if required conducts research and development of techniques for new radiological procedures.
  • You will maintain own level of health physics knowledge at the highest possible level by keeping abreast of current developments in field, change in policy, regulations, and requirements.
  • You will advise management on the status of skills training in the shipyard. Anticipates problems and attempts to resolve them at the lowest level practicable.
  • You will actively participate in and support Radiological Emergency Response Organization (RERO) readiness through personal engagement as a responder.
