Summary

The incumbent serves as a Psychiatrist and provides Psychiatric care services for the Mental Health Care Line (MHCL) at the Department of Veterans Affairs Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, {VA TVHS).

Incumbent provides comprehensive clinical services to Veterans and their families within the MHCL. Incumbent performs general Psychiatric assessment and treatment In a multi-disciplinary setting.

Duties

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): MAY be provided to highly qualified individuals.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.


Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting



MAJOR DUTIES:

a. The Incumbent will serve as a psychiatrist within the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP).

The psychiatrist will work on an interdisciplinary team of providers to include psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, clinical pharmacy specialists, and peer support specialists.

The incumbent will provide treatment for beneficiaries with general psychiatric disorders via face-to-face and telemental health encounters.

The incumbent will make referrals for additional care services as indicated (e.g., addiction treatment services, psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, PTSD psychotherapy).

b.

The incumbent must be skilled in Psychotherapy and Psychopharmacology, and must be able to provide a comprehensive clinical summary/psychiatric summary.

c. The incumbent shall document patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).

Training regarding the use of CPRS along with all applicable expectations for content, timeliness and other standards will be provided by the VAMC.

All documentation shall be completed in

accordance with VA policy and procedures.

d. The incumbent will be assigned to treatment teams and adhere to team meeting responsibilities.

e. The incumbent may be required to write admission orders for either campus with transfer orders.

Work Schedule: 7:30a - 4p Monday-Friday. Alternate tours to be considered, Regular Telework 1-2 days/week
