Role Summary
Purpose of Position: To troubleshoot systems and perform preventative and predictive maintenance on various equipment, while always keeping safety as a priority.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: Responsible for supporting safety, quality and productivity while adhering to KAMTEK's plant standards and upholding the Magna Employee's Charter. Also, maintain, troubleshoot, and provide continuous improvement suggestions resulting in minimal downtime of manufacturing equipment in the casting area. Support installation and modification of equipment to ensure quality control requirements are met and process enhancements are realized.

BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

1) To verify safety functions and guarding are operational and installed properly.

2) To verify quality inspections & interlocks function as designed.

3) To reduce downtime and maintenance cost by completion of equipment repairs internally, bench testing external repaired equipment before use, completing preventive maintenance of stock items before use. Implement permeate countermeasures as needed.

4) To improve runtime by scheduling PM's, repairs, and rotation swaps at downtime events.

5) To verify the utility designs, meet the OEM specifications for proper operation & protection of equipment.

6) To help the Multi-craft and PM team when workload allows, or support team manpower is low.

7) To help build and improve upon the PM process and schedule.

8) 5's Keep work and clean and organized.

9) Design process flow for unrepaired and repaired items due to vast hardware variety.

10) Help train team on lessons learned and assist in online repairs.

11) Supervise all skilled trade team members in accordance with the principles of the Employee Charter, policies and procedures set out in the Kamtek Team Member Handbook

12) Act on behalf of the Department Manager in their absence, likewise, assume the full role of the Team Leader in their absence.


Key Responsibilities

Key Qualifications/Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 Must understand and practice shop & Plant safety.

 Must be a self-started with a strong work ethic.

 Must have good mathematical and communication skills.

 Must have experience with basic machine tools (IE Drill Press, Surface grinder, etc.)

 Must have a general understanding of engineering & controls.

 Must possess the ability to read and understand schematics/blueprints.

 Must be able to identify replacement parts from a bill of material.

 Must know how to use testing and troubleshooting equipment. (IE: Voltmeter, Ammeter, Ohmmeter & Multi-meter).

 Must have a basic understanding of rigging, cranes, etc.

 Must have a general knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.

 Must have a strong knowledge of electrical AC & DC voltage.

 Must have a strong mechanical knowledge.

 Must have knowledge of precession tools and measurements.

 Must be able to work extended hours as needed to meet customer requirements.

 Must have basic knowledge of P.C. with spreadsheet, word processor, Adobe, CAD and other basic software.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED

Some of the equipment and tools used are basic hand tools, punch tools, Oscilloscope, laptop/PC, AMP probe, AMP probe, Mega ohm meter, Multi Meter, MIG & Stick Welder, Basic Shop Machine tools, Crane (Jib and Bridge), rigging tools (Come-along, chain fall, jacks, etc,) pumps, vacuums and vacuum generators

KNOWLEDGE

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED required; Minimum of 3 years maintenance or tooling experience.

TECHNICAL TRAINING: General knowledge of industrial maintenance with an emphasis on electrical, mechanical, robotics, or controls applications.

OTHER: Journeyman Certification preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of work experience

• Motor Control, PLC and Ladder Logic

• Electrical Theory and troubleshooting

• Knowledge of electrical components

• Basic understanding of services and variable frequency drives

• Applicable rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures.

• Robotic troubleshooting skills

• High Level of mechanical aptitude

• Mathematical Skills (work well with probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations).

• Reasoning ability (ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables).
