Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Promotion to the full performance level is neither guaranteed nor implied and will be based solely on your ability to satisfactorily perform the work of the position, existing work at the higher grade level, and recommendation by the position's supervisor.

This position is with the Bureau of Land Management, Coos Bay District Office located in North Bend, Oregon. The position is responsible for managing the operation (including fee collection) and maintenance of recreation management areas. The position develops, coordinates, and delivers interpretive and environmental education programs. The position performs planning and organization by scheduling activities of volunteers, and arranges for supplies, equipment, and services. The position coordinates the maintenance activities with maintenance staff.

The position maintains accurate site records; contacts with key leaders of the public to assist in accomplishing the mission of the BLM and maintains contact with "friends" groups and other interest groups.

The position manages visitor use at recreation sites and trails; propose standards and rules and ensures compliance; collects, organizes, records and reports visitor use data and assists in the preparation of maintenance and management studies, reports and handbooks including information contained in Recreation Management Information System.

The position develops plans for revision/improvement of existing facilities.

Plans include present uses, problems with uses, and opportunities to enhance utilization of present facilities and prepare NEPA documents for recreation projects.

Assists outdoor recreation planner in developing recreation area management analyses and project plans; assist other specialist with project work involving recreation sites and trails.

The selected candidate must have or be a able to obtain a Contracting Officer Representative certificate in the first year.
