Primary Purpose Of Job

The IT Manager role is fundamental in providing communications and information systems resources in order to support all HEC departments. This role will oversee our IT resources and framework to ensure we leverage technology to collect, analyze and report data accurately and efficiently. With a goal to optimize IT for data management processes to drive strategic initiatives and enhance organizational performance.

This position will directly manage a team of 1+, will be responsible for troubleshooting computer and communication problems and training users for efficient use of applications and systems.

The IT Manager plays a critical role in ensuring our team continues to succeed in providing excellent service to our members. The right candidate will be independent, able to manage multiple priorities, take initiative, and deliver high-quality products and services.

Major Job Duties


•Strategic Leadership:

oDevelop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the HEC's goals and objectives, with a strong focus on leveraging data and AI technologies.

oCollaborate with senior management to identify opportunities for technology-driven innovation and business growth.


•Data Management:

oOversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust data management systems and processes to ensure the integrity, security, and accessibility of organizational data.

oLead efforts to gather, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to provide actionable insights and drive informed decision-making.


•Applications Management:

oConduct software implementation. Lead the deployment and implementation of software applications, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processes. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, configure software settings, and customize features to meet specific business needs.

oDrive adoption and usage. Develop and execute strategies to promote maximum utilization of software applications across the organization. Conduct training sessions, workshops, and create educational materials to educate users on application features, best practices, and efficiency tips. Analyze usage data and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement initiatives to enhance user engagement and satisfaction.

oProvide technical support. Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving technical issues and providing support to end-users. Troubleshoot software functionality, diagnose problems, and offer timely solutions through phone, email, or remote assistance. Document and track support inquiries, resolutions, and system enhancements to enhance user experience and optimize software performance.


•AI Implementation:

oDrive the adoption of AI technologies across the organization to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

oStay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in AI technology, evaluating their potential impact on organizational operations and strategy.


•Hardware Management:

oManage the HEC's hardware infrastructure, including servers, storage devices, networking equipment, and end-user devices.

oDevelop and implement hardware procurement strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational needs, budgetary constraints, and technological requirements.

oOversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.

oMonitor hardware utilization and capacity, proactively identifying and addressing potential bottlenecks or performance issues.


•Vendor Management:

oEvaluate and manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and technology partners, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and delivering value-added solutions.

oNegotiate contracts, oversee service level agreements, and monitor vendor performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.


•Compliance and Security:

oEnsure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing data privacy, security, and governance, implementing appropriate controls and measures to mitigate risks.

oLead efforts to establish and maintain a robust cybersecurity posture, proactively identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities and threats.

Required Skills and Qualifications


•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Management information systems or equivalent experience.


•Three (3) to five (5) years' hands on experience supporting network systems, infrastructure software and security, and data management required.


•A good understanding of Microsoft 365 preferred.


•Proficiency in programming languages as well as familiarity with AI frameworks and tools.


•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.


•Ability to prioritize, organize resources and maintain confidentiality while professionally handling sensitive information.

We support a hybrid working environment. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.
