Starting Salary:
A/C Refrigeration Mechanic I: $18.58 to $23.69 per hour, depending on qualifications
A/C Refrigeration Mechanic II: $19.70 to 25.11 per hour, depending on qualifications

Nature of Work:

Performs skilled, journey level work in the installation, preventive maintenance and repair of air conditioning equipment. An employee assigned to this class conducts regular inspections of air conditioning units, makes operating adjustments, lubricates units and changes filters. Work also requires the inspection of malfunctioning units, testing of equipment, diagnosis of problems, repair or replacement of parts, and replacement of refrigerant. Employee works under general supervision, usually alone, and exercises reasonable initiative and independent judgment in scheduling work and in determining action to be taken. Work is reviewed through inspection of work completed, reports from users of equipment, study of work reports and analysis of operating and maintenance costs. Minimum Requirements

A/C Refrigeration Mechanic I: High school graduate plus two years experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating and air conditioning systems required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

A/C Refrigeration Mechanic II: Same as A/C Refrigeration Mechanic I, above, except requires four years experience required as specified.

VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT.
