The Opportunity

The College Counseling Director will work closely with students and families throughout the college admissions process. Our goal is to provide the greatest opportunity for Parker School students to attend their chosen colleges, while focusing on a healthy, balanced approach to complex, emotional, and exciting outcomes. The Director will be the conduit between colleges and Parker, and will serve a diverse student body with diverse college interests.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Advise, guide and support approximately 30-35 students in each senior class throughout the entire college selection and application process
  • Work with 30-35 juniors and their parents to prepare college lists and applications.
  • Offer annual workshops for students and parents in grades 8-10
  • Maintain strong relationships with college admissions professionals.
  • Stay attuned to the latest developments in the field through regular college visits as well as attending professional workshops, conferences, and fly-in programs.
  • Design strategic communications for students and families to help them navigate the complexities of the admissions and financial aid process
  • Cultivate positive relationships with students
  • Manage numerous small and large task with flexibility, and attention to detail
  • Write comprehensive and timely school recommendations in support of student applications
  • Plan, coordinate and chaperone college tour trips during Fall, Spring and/or Summer breaks Professional Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor?s degree required
5+ years experience in secondary school college counseling, guiding students through the college search, application and financial aid process, and reviewing all aspects of their applications Understanding of the changing world of higher education and the impact on secondary education.
