Duties

The Mental Health (MH) Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) RN must possess the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary mental health practice setting. This clinical knowledge enables the RN to effectively implement mental health promotion and prevention interventions, manage acute and chronic illness, and assist mental health patients achieve optimal levels of functioning.

  • Completes mandatory and annual competencies for equipment and procedures, adhere to unit-based protocols, maintain a current BLS certification, and work collaboratively with other disciplines in the Medical Center.
  • Participates in in-services and performance improvement activities and customer services programs at unit and service line levels.
  • Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
  • Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences.
  • Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
  • Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Exhibits core elements of performance to include knowledge of unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs.
Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards

Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Work Schedule: Day and Night Shifts available. Work schedule/hours will be discussed during interview process.

Day shifts: hour shifts and (1) 8-hour shift in a 2 week pay period, 5:45am to 6:15pm and 5:45am to 2:15pm, with rotating weekends and holiday schedules.

Night Shifts: hour shifts and (1) 8-hour shift in a 2 week pay period, 5:45pm to 6:15am and 9:45pm to 6:15am, with rotating weekends and holiday schedules.
