The WVU Medicine Audiology Department is comprised of eight full-time audiologists.

The extern will primarily be in the main medical center location where they will be exposed to experiences within all the audiology specialty areas for both adults and pediatrics.

The position is a 12-month, 5-day per week audiology student externship beginning around May 2025.

Yes, the extern can participate in any of the CEU activities that the audiology team participates in throughout the year.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:

  • Student should be able to perform basic testing. Supervising audiologist will evaluate the student's skills and help create a plan for development based on that assessment.
  • During the externship the student will be provided with experiences that allow them to develop their skills across the entire scope of practice.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Student will become autonomous professional by the end of the externship across their scope of practice.
