The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Direct Reporting Unit (DRU) human factors system integration and human engineering programs for the HQ Air Force Operational Testing and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) mission involving field testing of advanced and emerging technologies with human factors analysis and evaluation. Provides expert consultant service.

• Manages the Human Systems Integration program using extensive knowledge to interpret Civil, DoD and AF standards, procedures, methods, and techniques to determine compliance and make final decisions on all human system integration and human factors integration issues for Air Force Operational Test activities.
• Serves as the Human Factors representative for all operational test programs and participates in all HF working groups for systems under test. Ensures the operational test community unique policies, procedures and operational limitations are effectively represented at these venues.
• Manages the Human Factors Engineering program using extensive knowledge to interpret Civil, DoD and AF standards, procedures, methods, and techniques to determine compliance and make final decisions on all human factors engineering issues for Air Force Operational Test activities.
• Assists the Director of Safety in the management and implementation of the AFOTEC Human Use Protocol and Research Reviewer program IA W AFI Performs assignments to make determinations that an operational test/research plan/proposal is either not human research; exempt human research; or non-exempt human research requiring IRB review.
