What you'll do

The Scientist, Quality Control position will work cross functionally with manufacturing, product engineering, R&D, MSAT, RRP, Quality Assurance and the customer to implement new test methods and processes within Quality Control to successfully test new and existing products, perform routine quality testing, and support manufacturing and quality investigations.

  • Utilize knowledge of chemistry, biology, manufacturing, and quality to implement testing, sampling and inspection procedures on raw materials, equipment, in-process materials, and/or finished products to ensure that product specifications, company and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Help validate and/or verify quality testing methodology to ensure first time success with raw materials and finished products.
  • Prepare and present written and oral presentations for new or existing quality testing methodology and applications both internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, MSAT, QA, QE to implement process changes and improvements to ensure first time success for each testing methodology.
  • May monitor and execute on-site equipment maintenance, repair and calibration.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots functionality and performance problems. Recommends corrective action when appropriate.

Who you are

  • Self-driven and curious about learning new analytical methods and procedures.
  • Preferred Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related field with 3+ years' experience in a regulated QC and/or academic laboratory.
  • Demonstrated experience with analytical chemistry and biochemical analytical techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and work interdepartmentally. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed and customer focused environment
  • Demonstrated understanding or aptitude to understand continuous quality/process improvement tools (5S, SPC, Kaizen, root cause analysis tools, etc.)
  • Maintains a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with ICPMS trace metal analytical testing or chemistry background strongly preferred.
