Engineering Team

The challenge

We are seeking a Senior Full stack Software Engineer that will work within our Consumer Engineering team. The consumer engineering team is responsible for building products that will be used by the renters within the Esusu ecosystem.

As a Fullstack Engineer you will have the opportunity to work on both frontend and backend technologies, as well as have the opportunity to work on our mobile application product. Our back-end is microservice based, hosted in AWS and mainly written in Go. Our front-ends are currently React apps written in Typescript and Mobile apps developed using Flutter. Our data infrastructure has historically been on MongoDB, but we also have numerous PostgreSQL databases and we are evolving a data lake based on Snowflake. We are continuously innovating, and always open to new solutions. Because Esusu is a financial services company, we are obsessive about every aspect of security. We are Test-Driven-Development enthusiasts, and we are evolving towards a DevOps environment where your team is responsible for the full spectrum of development, testing, deployment, and maintenance, including working with product and operations teams to create customer-focused solutions. Even though we are 100% remote, Esusu's culture is intensely collaborative.

You will be working on our next generation consumer facing systems, building new features/functionality that will benefit millions of people. This work will allow you to own key development features across multiple lines of business. You will also be working on designing and building new features/functionality that will benefit millions of people. You will help set our future generation front-end framework and best practices. This will require you to strip problems down to their essential elements, then conceive simple, elegant solutions –always planning for scale, always thinking from a customer and product-oriented perspective.

What you will help us deliver

• You and your team will be responsible for creating a suite of consumer applications that will help millions of people in their financial journey and keep a roof over their heads.
• You will lead the evolution of the front end of our consumer web app.
• You will interface with product and business stakeholders to help to develop the product roadmap of our consumer facing services.
• You will evolve our existing solutions to improve resiliency, scalability, quality, and performance.
• You will collaborate with engineers, product managers and user experience (UX) designers to design and develop modern, consistent, fast, responsive user interfaces using leading UX design patterns and best practices.
• You will mentor other developers on the team in their work.

Basic Qualifications

• Strong experience in developing microservices in Go(lang)
• Strong Experience with front end web technologies. With a focus in developing web applications with React
• Strong experience designing, building, launching, and operating large scale, and highly available and reliable distributed systems
• Strong experience with architectural patterns and delivering solution in cloud environments like AWS
• Expert knowledge of database solutions, including Relational and NoSQL data stores
• Strong communication, design, and technical writing skills - you can independently devise and implement solutions to problems with minimal explanation needed.
• Mastery of standard security protocols and practices
• Mastery of the core development practices used at Esusu: Agile, TDD, CI/CD and DevSecOps.

Above and Beyond:

• Experience with consumer facing applications
• Experience with Flutter and/or Mobile development.
• Experience with a variety of AWS services used at Esusu: API Gateway, Lambda, S3, ECS, RDS, Aurora, SNS, SQS, SES, Cloudformation etc.
• Experience in a FinTech or PropTech startup.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams.
• Experience in SOC2 certified organizations.
