Position Overview

As a company we need to mitigate quantity growth on large design build projects. By knowing our quantities, we can be more successful in our forecasting efforts. The role of a Quantity Engineer is to accurately quantify roadway, grading, utilities, and drainage scopes of work by utilizing our companies' tools and standard processes. These quantities and supporting deliverables will then be reviewed and presented to a few different groups including Discipline Leads and Managers, Project Counterparts and Project Control Managers. During this role you will learn how to read infrastructure drawings, collect, and verify available design CADD files and Models, use them to quantify roadway and grading scopes of work, and communicate the quantities to the project team in a timely manner.

You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Project Controls Department, which includes structural, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and landscape disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects. District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Project Controls team are driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects to manage their multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-driven engineers analyze root causes and resolve design issues before they impact schedule and budget. Particularly on large design-build projects, clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff shares experiences gained, innovative concepts, and design best practices for all projects that we support.

Location

This position ins based out of our Lone Tree, CO Campus.

Responsibilities

Work closely with in a team to produce reports

• Displays understanding of Earned Value Management systems and concepts

• Works closely with engineering leads to address remaining level of effort and forecasted effort to complete remaining work

• Produces high quality reports based on Earned Value Management systems which comply with standard operating procedures.

• Exhibit ability to follow standard protocols

• Demonstrates strong work ethic

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated work ethic
  • The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
  • The ability to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done
  • Occasional travels to project sites and offices are required for this role.

TECHNICAL/SOFTWARE SKILLS:

  • Basic/Intermediate Experience one or more below:
  • Electronic quantity takeoffs from PDF drawings and specifications
  • Quantity takeoffs from basic geometry from CAD files, e.g., line lengths, shape areas, etc.
  • Roadway and surface modeling, e.g., creating surface ties, reading/modifying roadway corridors, creating surfaces from points and breaklines, etc.
  • Generating cut/fill volumes and end-area x-section reports from corridor models and surface files
  • Intermediate knowledge one or more below:
  • Bentley Microstation and OpenRoads CONNECT or any older Bentley roadway modeling tools
  • Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Trimble Business Center
  • Microsoft Excel
  • BlueBeam Revu/Extreme
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of soil types, compaction variables, geotechnical data, elevations and how these items can affect earthwork quantities

Other Requirements:

• Regular, reliable attendance

• Work productively and meet deadlines timely

• Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment

• Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

FIELD ROLES ONLY May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Base Compensation: $95,000/yr - $99,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
