The Westford Water Department is seeking a qualified Licensed Well Specialist to perform routine and non-routine drinking water operator functions necessary for drinking water treatment and distribution system operations. Requires thorough knowledge of distribution and treatment system designs. Must be able to diagnose and determine problems and take steps to make repairs and corrections, perform preventative maintenance, and moderately complex repairs on treatment plant equipment, distribution system components, and heavy/light equipment used for piping installation and maintenance. Must be able to analyze situations and make independent decisions to limit damage, organize work teams, and notify appropriate authorities.

Must be able to operate heavy equipment such as backhoe and obtain necessary licensure to do so. Must have excellent communication and customer service skills, hold a current Massachusetts Grade 1 drinking water treatment and distribution license, and be proficient in various technologies, including SCADA and MS Office. Primarily a field position with frequent strenuous physical effort required. Must be able to respond to an emergency, regardless of weather, respond within 30 minutes if on call, and overtime is often required. Must have a high school diploma, valid driver's license, Massachusetts Class 2 hoisting, Class B commercial driver's license, and cross connection tester and surveyor licenses preferred. Starting pay rate is $26.28-$34.33, depending on experience and qualifications. Position will remain open until filled.
