Billing Specialist

The Revenue team owns the order-to-cash (OTC) process and oversees the billing experience at Fastly, and we're looking to add to the team to support Fastly's growth and build toward scalability. The Billing Specialist will report to the Billing Manager and can expect to regularly interface with customers and collaborate cross-functionally with Credit and Collections, revenue accounting, Sales, Business Systems, and Engineering. An ideal candidate will be comfortable learning and working with a complex web of software, processes, and teams and is eager to roll up their sleeves and dig into issues.

What You'll Do:

• You will process contracts by interpreting the data and inputting in the billing and finance systems to generate timely and accurate customer invoices
• You will maintain customer information in the billing and finance systems - such as tax, purchase orders, or contact information (Email, address, etc.)
• You will resolve billing issues by analyzing data and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. sales, engineering, credit and collections) and communicating directly with customers
• You will assist with close, audits, financial reporting, and internal controls testing, as well as ad-hoc finance projects or processes
• Issue credit memos and refunds to help maintain the A/R subledger

What We're Looking For:

• 2+ years of work in billing, OTC, accounting, accounts receivable, or other relevant experiences
• This is a customer-facing role, ability to handle people from all walks of life in a professional yet grounded manner; ideally someone who enjoys helping people
• Proficient with Excel and Google Sheets, e.g. formulas like VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP/SUMIFS, pivot tables, data cleansing, using keyboard shortcuts, presentable formatting
• Experience with at least one of the following systems: Aria, NetSuite, SalesForce, or ZenDesk—OR proven aptitude to become proficient in new software by taking the initiative to learn

We'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:

• Able to understand and find solutions to complex customer contracts and service orders
• Proficient in calculating usage-based billing in both enterprise software and Excel
• experience with working on audits and/or financial reporting at a public company
• You have a basic grasp of networking services, security, or computing industries as it relates to accounting or billing
• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or other relevant degree

Work Hours:

• This position will require you to be available Monday - Friday during core business hours.

Work Locations & Travel Requirements:

This position is a hybrid role and open to candidates residing in the following location:

• San Francisco, CA
• Denver, CO

In a hybrid position, you must reside within a commutable distance from the Fastly office in San Francisco or Denver and you may be required to occasionally work in the office.

This position may also require travel approximately 1-2 times per year as requested by your manager.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $59,970 to $83,290.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.
