Job Summary

Lead actuarial initiatives for Nassau's traditional life blocks currently administered on Servidata and HomeComm (Non-Growth Traditional Life)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Actuarial liaison for Project Admiral
    • Provide guidance and expertise on HomeComm product features and functionality; make key decisions regarding simplifications and modifications
    • Develop and execute actuarial project plan in conjunction with overall project plan
    • Ensure actuarial data and valuation needs are met during the conversion
    • Assist with the development and execution of the project test strategy
    • Review and document test strategy/results for aspects of the conversion that impact actuarial
  • Valuation lead for Non-Growth Traditional Life block of business
    • Manage the completion of quarterly and annual financial close activities
    • Complete required control documentation and respond to inquiries from internal and external auditors
    • Present quarterly results for Non-Growth Traditional Life to internal stakeholders and external auditor
    • Oversee implementation of LDTI for related balances
  • Project lead for HomeComm to ALFA valuation conversion project
    • Develop project plan, lead project team and ensure timely and accurate execution of plan
    • Determine and document reserve methodologies for HomeComm valuation including simplifications and approximations and deferred defects
    • Determine and document quarterly and annual reporting requirements
    • Create and document attribution results
    • Develop and implement SOX compliant quarter close process
    • Prepare Operational Readiness documentation prior to go-live
  • Enhance reporting and analytics packages
    • Enhance existing controls and analytics to evaluate reserves at a more refined level
    • Create streamlined and automated annual statement, rating agency and NY electronic filing process for Non-Growth Traditional Life block of business
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • FSA designation with a minimum of 10 years' actuarial experience in the life or annuity business.
  • BA in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, or equivalent experience
  • In depth knowledge of life products, including product design, Stat and GAAP valuation, and key risks
  • Ability to use data and analysis to effectively assess risks and inform decision-making.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill; ability to present complex topics to senior management
  • Works cooperatively with others to achieve common goals, including Product, Information Technology, and Operations teams
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities/projects.
  • Able to handle large volume of data and many details, yet maintain perspective.
