The Department of Thoracic/Head & Neck Medical Oncology (THNMO) at The University of Texas
MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking applicants for a full-time academic appointment at the assistant professor level. The position entails developing a clinical and translational research program focused on investigating targeted and immuno-therapies in head and neck malignancies, with a particular emphasis on salivary gland cancers.
The role offers an opportunity for professional growth and development through integration into a dynamic and active team comprising clinicians, physician-scientists, and investigators in clinical, basic science, and translational research. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the department's diverse ongoing research programs, focusing specifically on carcinogenesis prevention, immuno-oncology, tumor microenvironment exploration, and the development of new biomarkers, including both therapeutic (e.g., B7-H4, TROP-2) and prognostic (e.g., circulating free HPV DNA) markers.
Applicants should hold or be eligible for medical licensure in Texas and must possess either an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with board eligibility or board certification in the subspecialty of medical oncology. Additionally, applicants should have experience in translational research, particularly in utilizing novel technologies for comprehensive exploration of the tumor microenvironment. This includes expertise in imaging mass cytometry, encompassing antibody optimization, digital analysis, and the ability to integrate proteomic data with genomic and clinical data to identify novel therapeutic targets through biomarker discovery. Candidates are expected to also have clinical research experience and expertise in treating patients with head and neck malignancies, including salivary gland malignancies. An advanced fellowship in head and neck medical oncology is desired. Successful candidates should have demonstrated expertise and leadership in Head and Neck medical oncology clinical research. This position has a target base salary of $272,740 to $322,897 and is eligible for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.
