We are urgently seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Designer who is passionate about contributing to the development and refinement of control systems and instrumentation. In this pivotal role, you will engage in high-stakes projects that demand your expertise in designing systems capable of operating under rigorous safety standards and extreme conditions.
On-site in Greenville, SC is preferred; however we will consider remote with a minimum of one-week per month travel to project offices. Must be willng to travel monthly for the duration of the project.
Responsibilities:

  • Design and Drafting: Leverage advanced CAD tools to design and draft intricate instrumentation and control systems.
  • 3D Modeling and Documentation: Create detailed 3D models and maintain accurate design documentation with minimal supervision.
  • Collaboration and Strategy: Work closely with engineering teams to refine system designs and develop control strategies accurately represented in project documentation.
  • Read, interpret and generate design drawings with minimal input from a member of the engineering staff. Must have the ability to walk down field systems with minimal guidance, interpret field direction, generate minor design details, create new drawings, modify existing drawings, and direct junior drafters

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of an associate's degree in a field related to the position and a minimum of 10 years progressive experience in drafting related to Engineering and Construction (nuclear preferred).
  • Background and experience must include drafting/ designer experience in engineering fields, such as electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection or civil.
  • 3D modeling experience required with a preference in experience with SmartPlant 3D.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD required.
  • Department of Energy requires all people working on the project to be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:Field and Project Experience:

  • Practical field experience and direct involvement in EPC projects.
  • Experience with U.S. Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government agencies.
  • Experience in nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries.

Experience with design on instrumentation and control systems.
Innovative Thinking: Capability to propose creative and effective solutions.
Attention to Detail: Rigorous focus on the specifics of design specifications and adherence to project standards.
