Job Summary

The GIS Architect role is part of a dynamic team contributing to the structure, design, progress, and maintenance of GPRS's GIS applications and associated data. The ideal candidate should appreciate varied tasks, be hands-on in developing solutions, collaborate with colleagues, and reserve time for strategic thinking when crafting solutions. The incumbent will play a role in envisioning new features to impress our clientele. Additionally, they will ensure the adequacy of GIS technologies to handle data integration from our diverse service offerings into our customized applications, ultimately aiding clients in visualizing their constructed environment. Lastly, they will contribute to upholding our high standards by enhancing existing processes and addressing issues as needed.

Job Goals
  • Support GIS data management and potentially participate in solution architecture for GPRS' applications.
  • Aid in designing and implementing features utilizing GIS and related data sourced from one of GPRS primary service areas, client-provided data, or publicly accessible data repositories.
  • Offer expertise and assistance in GIS-specific technologies, tools, and best practices related to the team's supported applications.
Job Responsibilities
The day-to-day duties will be diverse, with no two days being identical. Our atmosphere is lively and fast-paced. Challenges are constant and ever-evolving. We solve one challenge only to encounter a fresh one. Here are some instances of daily activities that may arise:
  • Establish an integration between our application(s) and a commercial suite like ESRI, facilitating data transfer for our clients.
  • Assist in addressing production support issues, refining our data transformation processes to ensure data integrity and consistency using tools like FME.
  • Devise a solution for managing and visualizing extensive datasets or point cloud files, enabling our clients to interact with these elements in our custom platform.
  • Collaborate with teams to design and develop a feature enabling us to showcase a client's GIS data for chronological analysis, enabling them to observe changes in their location over time.
Qualifications

Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, or a relevant field, or equivalent 4+ years of experience in one of the mentioned fields or a related area.
  • Experience with contemporary programming methodologies throughout all development stages.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure; Microsoft Azure is preferred
  • Solid background in GIS mapping, data manipulation, and visualization of geospatial data, coordinate systems, and projection methods.
  • Capability to integrate platforms and exchange data sets with other GIS frameworks such as ESRI.
  • Demonstrated expertise in transforming and manipulating GIS data using standard industry tools like Safe Software's Feature Manipulate Engine (FME)
  • Practical knowledge of tiling schemes, image providers, and supporting technologies
  • Prior experience in architecting geospatial solutions is beneficial but not mandatory
