YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities Community & Family Service's Manhattan Recreation and Manhattan/Queens recreation programs are seeking program Assistant Supervisors who are passionate about creating unique adult recreation opportunities that are empowering, person directed, progressive and promote decisions toward self-care and safety.

Join a team of highly engaged and dedicated professionals to support the program's operations and long term viability in an ever changing funding system.

The Assistant Supervisor will have the opportunity to engage with various stakeholders including the larger OPWDD system, families, group members and other service providers.

In conjunction with the larger recreation team, the Assistant Supervisor will support delivery on the program's mission and strategic direction.

Have a Bachelor's Degree.
Enjoy working with and as part of a team.
Possess strong written and oral skills.
Have some experience in a social service field. ID/DD field preferred.
Possess strong organization and communication skills.
Have a willingness to go above & beyond to accomplish program mission & vision.
Be comfortable providing supports to adults with disabilities in the larger NYC community.
Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands.
Have a sense of humor.

Be comfortable in using a variety of technology platforms including email, google drive & affiliated programs, microsoft word, excel and powerpoint.

Have an interest in developing and enhancing leadership abilities through education. Be intrinsically motivated and a self starter.

Key Responsibilities Include
Plan, support and lead program groups during the weekday evenings and weekends as needed.
Support outreach and intake of new program group members and the subsequent onboarding process (In accordance with Medicaid Waiver Supplemental Day Habilitation, HCBS Medicaid Waiver regulations as well as DOH City Contract Regulations)
Contribute to the team planning process when it comes to identifying unique and progressive activity options.

Lead recreation program activities, role modeling for and support direct service professionals in their professional journey in conjunction with program supervisor.

Participate in quality assurance activities including management of OPWDD waiver regulation compliance system via Digital Agency and as outlined in YAI Supplemental Day Program, Waiver Respite and DOH City Contract Regulations and established protocols.

Maintain accurate and organized program files in conjunction with program supervisor.

Support members in identifying their goals when attending program, create and maintain plans supporting stated goals, enter and collect ongoing data of work towards indicated goal.

Communicate & collaborate with group members' circles of support to ensure optimum recreation experience.
Actively engage in department and agency wide initiatives as needed.
Support the health and safety of program participants and staff.
Follow incident reporting and management protocols.
