BAE Systems FAST Labs - RF, Electronics, Cyber (R3) product line is growing rapidly. The RF Exploitation Architectures (REXAS) Technical Area is a driver of that growth, developing and demonstrating next generation disruptive capabilities and technologies ranging from new RF/Cyber algorithms and real-time applications to new mission capabilities developed on software-defined, hardware-enabled architectures deployed in undersea through space domains. REXAS is establishing itself as an industry leader in RF Exploitation Solutions and Advanced RF Exploitation Architectures focused on RF electronic warfare and exploiting the RF spectrum. With this growth, REXAS is seeking a Technology Development Director (TDD) to help drive the strategy and grow the portfolio in RF Exploitation Solutions - focused on development and demonstration (on test and operational platforms) of the next-generation RF signal processing algorithms, real-time processing applications (CPU, GPU and FPGA), and advanced signals analysis. Your work will help grow an established portfolio and drive the rapid development and fielding of RF exploitation solutions to support RF spectrum dominance for our warfighters from undersea through space domains.
Our Technology Development Directors own a portion of a product line's strategic plan by capturing and executing sponsored research programs. As a REXAS TDD, you will drive disruptive RF Exploitation Solutions technologies and capabilities from research and development efforts into BAE Systems Business Areas products and services. You will lead and grow a portfolio with a technical team and lead the capture and execution of strategic programs by being a trusted advisor and partner to our customers.
The TDD will report to the REXAS Technical Area Director and this position will be based in our Merrimack, NH facility. Alternative locations for this role could be based in our Arlington, VA or Burlington, MA facilities for the right candidate.
Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Development of the portfolio strategy to pursue R&D funding to achieve annual growth
  • Lead and shape captures and proposals, developing strategy to expand our existing technology baseline in alignment with the RF, Electronics, and Cyber (R3) strategy and vision.
  • Significant customer interaction, initiating customer contact to create new business opportunities at DoD and IC research and development organizations such as DARPA, AFRL, ONR, ARL, SDA, IARPA, NRO
  • Collaboration across the larger BAE Systems organization to facilitate the development and transition of game-changing RF Exploitation Solutions
  • Be a Principal Investigator for programs, setting technical direction and guiding teams in executing complex research projects that regularly involving multiple technical fields
  • Grow the next generation of technology development managers and scientists through mentorships

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status and eligibility to obtain a US Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Active DoD TOP SECRET clearance and ability to obtain SCI & SAP accesses
  • Experience in leading teams to solve complex technical problems, and developing and growing teams and an organization around a unified vision
  • Experience in new business capture, such as shaping program opportunities and proposal writing; preferred if experienced leading proposal efforts
  • Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities, willingness to perform a wide variety of related tasks, has exceptional oral and written skills, and experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understanding of electronic warfare, communications, SIGINT, cyber, or electronics markets as well as R&D customers
  • Experience with digital signal processing approaches; signal processing implementation experience preferred


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Active SCI clearance
  • Experience with RF (passive and active) signal processing, Adaptive signal processing / optimization, Detection, tracking and classification, Algorithm development / Data analysis, Modeling & Simulation
  • Experience with RF hardware systems and/or software defined radios (SDRs)
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g., VHDL, C, C++, CUDA, Matlab, Python, Bash) using common industry standards and open architecture approaches
  • Technology roadmap development experience
  • Has an existing network of USG Customer contacts at DoD and IC research and development organizations, or has experience growing and maintaining a Customer contact network
  • Demonstrated success in leading the capture of DoD and/or IC R&D opportunities at organizations as DARPA, AFRL, ONR, ARL, SDA, IARPA, NRO
  • Proven ability to lead a diverse organization across multiple sites


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $250400
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
