Greater Oregon Behavioral Health, Inc. (GOBHI) has an immediate opening for a Actuarial Assistant. This position will be based out of the employee's home office, which can be located within the State of Oregon.

The Actuarial Assistant supports the Chief Actuary by collecting and analyzing data, performing calculations and assisting with the development of insurance plans. This position prepares reports, communicates with clients and contributes to risk assessment and forecasting activities. The successful candidate will be expected to make progress toward attaining the status of Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) through the Society of Actuaries education program. GOBHI will provide exam support.

Essential duties include:
  • Performs detailed analysis of numerical and statistical data by using advanced statistical methods and actuarial techniques.
  • Develops and creates charts and graphs based on actuarial computations.
  • Contributes to reports and makes recommendations to GOBHI and/or its clients.
  • Provides support for the development of pricing.
  • Develops reserve factors, analyzing reserves, and monitoring reserve changes.
  • Provides technical leadership, including contributions to improvement, development, and innovation.
  • Assists CFO and Chief Actuary with traditional actuarial functions such as pricing, reserving, and product development.
  • Assists with the preparation of documents for rate filings for submission to state regulatory agencies.
  • Assists with statistical analysis to assess and manage risk and estimate financial outcomes.
  • Collects, organizes, cleans, and maintains data related to insurance claims, policyholders, and other pertinent information.
  • Prepares reports documenting actuarial analyses, findings, and recommendations and manages various clerical support tasks.
  • Records and tracks accruals, claims, and settlements.
  • Collaborates with partners and other team members to conduct research and analysis on emerging trends and industry developments.
  • Stays current with advancements in actuarial science, technology, and industry best practices through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Supports other finance department functions including financial reporting and/or analysis, and planning/forecasting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Drives to meetings or other GOBHI locations as needed.
Requirements

What is needed to succeed in this role:
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with actuarial principles and concepts preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels.
  • Technology Savvy - proficient in Microsoft Office software to include Excel and Access database.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Maintains good driving record and required vehicle insurance.
  • Education - Bachelor's degree in math, statistics, actuarial science or related field or a combination of education and experience.
